Dr. Samuel Ajala Folarin

Dr. Samuel Folaranmi Ajala was born at Akim Oda, Ghana on 10th June, 1958. He attended Attafuah Primary School, Akim-Oda where he finished in 1970. He had a brief stint at Attafuah Middle School and Anglican Secondary Modern School, Ogbomoso before he gained admission to Ogbomoso High School in 1973 (where he joined in Form Two). Dr. S. F. Ajala completed the secondary education in 1976 and did his advanced level programme at the Basic Studies Unit, The Polytechnic, Ibadan. This was between 1976 and 1978. He was a teacher at Sohun High School (then Urban Day High School) in Ogbomoso for a year before he went to the university.

Dr. S. F Ajala gained admission to the University of Ibadan in 1979 where he did Sociology and graduated in 1982. He did the National Youth Service programme in Kaduna State, specifically, the Advanced Teachers College, Zaria. After the NYSC programme, he went back to teaching and was posted to The Apostolic Church Secondary School, Ogbomoso. This was between September, 1983 and November, 1984.

Dr. S. F Ajala did his Master’s programme in Library and Information Studies in November, 1984 and graduated in September, 1985. Shortly after the Master‘s programme, he applied for teaching appointment again and was posted to Ikoyi Grammer School, Ikoyi Ile. He was at Ikoyi-Ile for five years before he joined The Polytechnic, Ibadan in July, 1990 as Librarian 1. He rose from the ranks and became the Deputy Chief Librarian in October, 2002. Dr. S. F Ajala also have a Proficiency Diploma Certificate in Computer Studies which he obtained in 1995. In 2018, he completed his Doctorate Degree in Library and Information Studies at the University of Ibadan.

He has served The Polytechnic, Ibadan in various capacities. He was the Acting Chief Librarian in 2007 when the then Chief Librarian was on leave of absence and also the Acting Chief Librarian between August, 2011 and February, 2014. This was between the periods the then Chief Librarian (Mrs O.A. Obikoya) retired and a new one was appointed. He has also served in various committees in the Institution.

He has many publications in many local, international and electronic journals. He is married to Mrs Yinka Olajumoke Ajala and blessed with children.
