Health Center PolyIbadan Home

The Health Centre is an important arm of the Institution. It was primarily set up for the welfare of the students and those that were employed to serve them. It is to attend to the health of the people within its catchments area.

It is located midway between the North and South campuses, a few meters away from Music Department,C.E.C. and Faculty of Financial Management Sciences.

Services at the health Centre are essentially free to all bonafide students of the Institution. However for students to benefit from this kind and good gesture of the management of the Institution they have to be duly registered with the Centre and carry its registration cards.

The health Centre is compulsory the first port of call for any students that falls sick or takes ill. Any medical treatment received outside the health centre without knowledge of the Director of Medical Services will not be guaranteed by his office. This implies the sick certificates or excuse duty certificates obtained from such centre will not be authenticated by the Director of Medical Services. There is a circular to this effect.

The Health Centre is open to all students and members of staff and public 24 hours a day including weekends and public holidays. However students are advised to report early in the day to receive treatment on time so as not to waste much time at the Health Centre to warrant their missing lectures.

Apart from routine medical treatment, other services that are available to students include: counselling, treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, wound dressing, family planning services and counselling, education on correct attitude to sex. Immunization for pregnant women and children from age one day to five years. Other is laboratory-ray and ambulance services. Some of these extra services are available at affordable charges.

The health Centre is a Government designated centre for the issuance and stamping of yellow cards for international travels. There well qualified personnel to administer these services. We have experienced Senior Medical Doctors and a team of competent Nurses who were trained in all aspects of Nursing, qualified pharmacist, Radiographer and Laboratory Scientist/Technologist Doctors can be called at any time to attend emergencies at the Centre.

We operate under the conventional oath and therefore all our patients secrets are kept secret.

There is a plan to establish a pharmacy shop in the near future to complement whatever the management could offer free to students. This when in full operation will help to make drugs and other medicaments available at controlled prices. It will also ensure that you get genuine drugs and saved the pain and exploitation of fake and expired drugs peddlers.

It is also note worthy that we equally attend to outsiders on minimal bills.
