THE POLYTECHNIC, IBADAN PLANNING TO SET UP INDUSTRY ADVISORY COMMITTEE AS PART OF EFFORTS TO MAKE IT’S PRODUCTS EMPLOYABLE.
The Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Professor Kazeem Adekunle ADEBIYI has disclosed that the institution will soon set up an Industrial Advisory Committee which will be composed of lecturers from The Institution and experts and captains of industries.
The Rector who disclosed this while hosting the Chairman and officers of the Ibadan branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) who paid him a courtesy call noted that such a committee would enable those in the academics and their counterpart in the industries exchange ideas and rub minds on how best to prepare the students for future employment.
He said such a partnership will be of immense benefit to the students as a result of the experience they will be deriving from those already in the industries.
While appreciating the NSE executives for the courtesy call on him, Professor Adebiyi further disclosed that the management of the institution will soon approach the NSE and other allied professional bodies to provide their members as honorary teachers to handle some courses as part of the efforts to make the students employable after graduation.
He said the partnership with the industry will also facilitate industrial training for the students who will be approaching the industries at different stages of the academic program for industrial training.
Earlier, The Chairman of the Ibadan branch of the NSE, Engr Falade Fatila noted that the society decided to pay the courtesy call on the Rector to congratulate him as a distinguished member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
Engr Fatila who noted that his branch of NSE had always provided the overall best graduating engineering student of the institution with an award assured the Rector that more efforts would be geared towards giving more professional support to the institution.
